Terms of Use
Last updated: 21 August 2026
Tsjek keeps what you'd otherwise lose — gift cards, warranties, tickets, loyalty cards and deadlines — and nudges you before something expires. These are the agreements between you and us. We wrote them as plainly as we could, because we'd rather you read them than dismiss them. How we handle your data is covered separately in our privacy policy.
In short
- The core of Tsjek is free and stays that way: storing items, your timeline, reminders, the barcode at the checkout, and exporting or deleting your data.
- Tsjek Plus is a subscription through the App Store or Google Play (€2.99 per month or €24.99 per year). It renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple or Google account.
- We do our best, you stay in charge. A reminder can arrive late and the AI can misread a scan — check important dates and amounts yourself.
- Your data stays yours. Exporting and deleting is always free, with or without Plus.
- Belgian law applies, and your mandatory rights as a consumer always take precedence over anything written here.
1. Who we are and what Tsjek does
Tsjek is an app by Tonenite, ToneNite BV, located at Bredestraat 37 A, 2580 Putte, Belgium, company number BE 0802.596.806. You can reach us at info@tsjek.app.
Tsjek is a vault for everything with an expiry date, a value or a moment you need to find it again: gift cards and credit, warranty receipts, tickets, loyalty cards, and deadlines such as a car inspection or the expiry of your ID card. You add something with a photo, a forwarded email or by hand; Tsjek fills in the fields, shows your barcode at the checkout and alerts you before something expires.
These terms apply to the app, the website tsjek.app and everything we offer around them. By creating an account you agree to them. If you'd rather not, simply don't use Tsjek — no hard feelings.
2. Your account and how you use Tsjek
- Age. You are at least 18, or younger with the consent of a parent or guardian. Tsjek is not intended for children under 16.
- One account per person. You log in with a one-time code sent to your email address; there is no password. So keep your mailbox and your device well secured — the app lock with face recognition or fingerprint helps. What happens on your account is your responsibility, unless it was our fault.
- What you add is your business — and your responsibility. Only add documents that are yours or that you are allowed to keep, and nothing unlawful, misleading or harmful.
- No identity documents. Don't scan an ID card, passport or driving licence. We deliberately don't support that: for such documents you keep only the expiry date and a label, never the document itself.
- Use Tsjek as intended. Don't try to bypass the security, the limits or the paywall, don't overload the service, and don't extract data from it automatically.
- Free use. The core of Tsjek is free, with a limited number of AI scans (at the time of writing: 10 to start with and 3 per month after that — the current number is shown in the app). A scan beyond that limit is kept as an item you can fill in yourself; you don't lose it.
3. Tsjek Plus
What it is. Tsjek Plus is a paid subscription for those who need more than the core: unlimited AI scans, sharing your vault with your family, extra categories such as your vehicle, and deals we find for you. Exactly what Plus includes is shown in the app and may evolve with the product; what is free today stays free.
Price. Plus costs €2.99 per month or €24.99 per year, through the App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Google). Prices may differ per country and currency; the price you see in the store before you confirm is the price that applies, VAT included.
Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews for the same period each time, unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You cancel in the subscription settings of your Apple ID or your Google account — not by deleting the app, because then the subscription simply continues. After cancelling, Plus stays active until the end of the paid period; after that you fall back to the free version and all your items stay put.
Refunds. Payment goes through Apple or Google; they are also your point of contact for invoices and refunds. We don't refund a running period, except where the law or the store provides for it. Within the EU you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services; how you exercise it, and what happens if you already used Plus during that period, is governed by Apple's and Google's own terms.
Trials and offers apply only as stated in the store. Free Plus periods that we grant ourselves (for example to early users) simply expire and never silently turn into a paid subscription.
Price changes. If we change the price of Plus, the new price only applies from your next renewal and your store notifies you in advance. If you don't agree, you simply cancel before that renewal.
Family sharing. A household is created by a Plus subscriber, who is its admin. Whoever pays, invites; whoever is invited pays nothing and doesn't need Plus. Here's how it works:
- A household has at most 6 members.
- You choose per item whether to share it. Members only see what is deliberately shared, never your whole vault.
- A member gets no Plus benefits of their own on their own account (such as unlimited scans); they share in what the admin shares.
- If the admin's subscription lapses, no new members can join and we may limit the shared features until it is renewed.
- Only share with people you trust: what you share, they can see and use.
Always free, Plus or not: exporting your data and deleting your account. Your data is never held hostage by a subscription.
4. Reminders and AI extraction
Reminders. We do our very best to alert you in time, but we can't guarantee that every notification arrives, or arrives on time. Whether a notification reaches you also depends on things outside our control: your device settings (notifications off, battery saver, do not disturb), a device that is offline, a deleted app or a wrongly entered date. You remain responsible for your expiry dates and for using a voucher, claiming a warranty or meeting a deadline in time. Think of Tsjek as a good helper, not a replacement for your own attention.
AI extraction. When you scan something, an AI service (Mistral AI, in the EU) reads the photo and fills in the fields: store, amount, date, warranty term. That usually goes well, but the AI can get it wrong — estimate a date, misread an amount, confuse a store. When in doubt, the app marks the item with "Quick check?", and every filled-in field stays editable. Always check important data yourself, especially with large amounts or legal deadlines. A scan you take offline is processed as soon as your device is back online.
Information about your rights. What Tsjek tells you about warranties, the right of withdrawal or return periods is general information, not legal advice. Periods can differ per store, product and country; in a concrete dispute, check the seller's terms or seek advice.
5. Found deals and discounts
In Tsjek Plus we show discounts at stores where you already keep cards or vouchers. They come from partners that collect discount codes from stores (affiliate networks). Here's the deal:
- We may receive a commission if you buy something through such a link. You pay nothing extra because of it.
- We share nothing about you with those partners for it. Which discounts suit you is determined inside your own vault; no data about you leaves it. Only when you tap "Go to the shop" yourself does the link open in your browser — from that moment the partner sees your visit, as with any link on the internet. More on this in the privacy policy.
- The voucher's conditions apply at the store. We don't guarantee that a discount is still valid, works or can be combined; the store decides that.
6. Community codes
Users can share discount codes with each other, and indicate whether a code worked. Those codes come from other Tsjek users, not from us: we don't check them beforehand and give no guarantee on them.
- Only share codes you're allowed to share — no personal codes, credit or data belonging to others.
- No unlawful, misleading or offensive content, no advertising and no spam. Links can't be submitted through the sharing form; that's deliberate.
- We may hide or remove a code without notice, and restrict your account in case of repeated abuse. You can always delete your own code yourself.
- By sharing a code you allow us to show it, free of charge, to other users in the app.
7. Intellectual property
The app, the website, the name Tsjek, the logo, the texts and the design belong to Tonenite or to our licensors. You get a personal, non-transferable right to use Tsjek for your own, non-commercial use. Nothing more, but nothing less either.
Your content stays yours. You only give us the permission needed to store it, process it and show it to you — and to the members of your household, if you choose so yourself.
Logos of stores and brands belong to those brands. We show them only so you recognise your loyalty card or voucher quickly; it doesn't mean that store works with us or endorses Tsjek. Are you a brand and would you rather not see your logo in Tsjek? One email is enough.
8. Availability and changes
Tsjek is still growing. We may add, change or discontinue features, and the service may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or due to an outage. We keep that as short as possible, but we can't promise 100% availability. Should we ever shut Tsjek down entirely, we'll notify you at least 30 days in advance so you can export your data, and you'll get back any prepaid period you can no longer use because of it.
If these terms change, we'll update the date at the top. For a material change we'll notify you in the app (and/or by email) before it takes effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using Tsjek and delete your account; if you keep using Tsjek, you accept the new terms.
9. Liability
Tsjek is a tool. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage, nor for the value of a voucher, warranty or deadline that expired anyway, for a reminder that didn't reach you or reached you late, for an error by the AI, for a discount or community code that didn't work, for content from other users, or for disruptions outside our control (your device, your network, the app stores). Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for Tsjek Plus in the past twelve months.
Those limitations do not apply in case of intent or gross negligence on our part, failure to perform our core obligation, or personal injury. And they never affect your mandatory rights as a consumer under Belgian and European law, including the legal guarantee of conformity for digital services.
10. Termination
You can always stop. Delete your account in the app: it is first deactivated for 30 days (during which you can restore it by logging in again) and then permanently erased, including your files. Export what you want to keep first. Note: deleting your account does not automatically cancel your Plus subscription — you do that yourself with Apple or Google.
We can step in on abuse. In case of fraud, attacks on the service, violation of these terms, unlawful content or when the law requires it, we may restrict or block your account. We'll tell you why, unless we're not allowed to or can't, and you can always respond by email. Your data remains exportable, except where the law forbids it.
11. Applicable law and disputes
These terms are governed by Belgian law. If you live in another country, you keep the mandatory consumer protection of that country.
Something bothering you? Email us first — most things we solve together. If that doesn't work, as a consumer you can turn, free of charge, to the Belgian Consumer Ombudsman Service (Consumentenombudsdienst / Service de Médiation pour le Consommateur) for mediation, and for a cross-border dispute to the European Consumer Centre Belgium. The former European ODR platform for online disputes was discontinued on 20 July 2025 and no longer exists.
Should it come to court, the courts of the judicial district of Antwerp (Mechelen division) have jurisdiction, without prejudice to your right as a consumer to choose the court of your own place of residence.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms? Email info@tsjek.app. We'll reply as fast as we can.
A few practical things: if a provision of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest continues to apply. These terms exist in Dutch, French and English; in case of a discrepancy, the Dutch version prevails.
